Repairing Scratches in Laminate Flooring

When I moved into my home, the floor in the living room had just been refinished with beautiful honey toned laminate flooring. It was beautiful and it fit my decor perfectly. The only problem was the fact that one of my chair had popped a cap, unbeknownst to everyone involved, and it wasn't until a few weeks later, when I went to rearrange a few pieces of furniture, that I noticed it. Much to my horror, the gleaming floor beneath the chair had become a scratched mess and I shuddered at the thought of having to fix them.

Now, I'm sure that I am not the only person who has had to deal with scratched laminate flooring. In fact, I'm almost positive that the problem is universally shared. The simple truth is, if you are going to own laminate flooring, at one time you will own scratched laminate flooring. Most people would simply sigh and shift the furniture around to cover the evidence, something that I actually did for a few months, but laminate flooring can be fixed without having to tear out pieces and replace them.

Most repairs in laminate flooring are pretty minor. A glass may have fallen and gouged a small hole or the kids may have scraped a toy car, minus wheels, across a small section. The scratches and holes are simply surface damage but they definitely detract from the once shiny beauty of your floors.

With minor damage, you will only need to do minor repairs to your laminate. Unfortunately, as with most repairs, there is nothing regularly stocked in your shelves that will fix the floors. You will need to make a run to the local home hardware or flooring store to pick up a repair kit. Some manufacturers will make repair kits for their flooring so the best place to start is the store where you purchased your flooring.

If you aren't sure of the manufacturer or the manufacturer does not have a repair product, simply purchase a generic repair kit. A repair kit usually consists of a tube of putty or wax. This is your actual filler. Some repair kits have colored putty while others have paint that you mix to create the matching floor color; this you mix with the putty before applying. Both are perfectly fine to purchase and you will usually run yourself about ten to twenty dollars.

Some repair kits come with putty knife and everything else you need but if it doesn't simply pick up a putty knife while you are at the store. Popsicle sticks work perfectly for applying the putty to the crack.

Before you start repairing your scratches and dents, make sure the area is clean of any debris and is dry. There is no sense repairing a spot if a patch of dog hair is going to be glued into the floor. Once the area is prepared, it's time to get mixing.

If you went with a colored putty that matches your floor, all you will need to do is spoon in the putty, but if you went with a mix, you will need to match and create the desired color. Once you have that, spoon in the putty and smooth with the putty knife. Remove any of the excess putty so you have a smooth surface. Lastly, wipe the area around the scratch, being careful to not touch the repaired scratch with a clean cloth to wash away any residue.

Once it dries, your laminate flooring should look as good as new.

Sometimes, you will find the occasional scratch that is too shallow for the putty to work properly. If this is the case, the best product on the market is ScratchAway. This is a spray on treatment for any small scratches on laminate and other wood flooring. All you need to do is spray the area and then buff until it is dry.

So with a few little tricks of the trade, there are very few reasons why you can't enjoy scratch free laminate flooring for years to come.

Where To Find A Replacement Canopy For Your Gazebo

Owning a gazebo with canopy top is a great way to spend time
outdoors without battling the hot sun or rain. These gazebos
are easy to assemble, affordable, available in a wide range of
materials, colors, and styles, and a great addition to any
backyard. With a canopy gazebo, you can spend time relaxing in
the shade with some ice tea and a great book, kicking back with
friends on a starry night, or dining on grilled chicken and
hamburgers with the family.

Today, canopy gazebo designs have improved dramatically. What
you will now find are canopies made from new and improved
material that is fade resistant, mildew resistant, scratch
resistant, and heavier to hold up better overall. In fact, many
canopy gazeboes are so well made that the manufacturer will
offer a five-year warrant on the canopy portion. However,
sometimes things do happen so if you need to find a replacement
canopy for a gazebo, you are in luck.

Rather than toss out a perfectly good gazebo, you can simply
find a replacement canopy for the gazebo. In fact, if you have
an older style gazebo, this would be an ideal time to update,
choosing a more contemporary style and material. This way, you
can continue enjoying your old frame but now with a beautiful
and fresh facelift. In most cases, a replacement canopy for a
gazebo is very affordable, which would of course depend largely
on the materials chosen and overall size needed.

We suggest when looking for a replacement canopy for a gazebo
that you go with fabric such as weather resistant nylon. Sturdy,
durable, and visually pleasing, this would make a great
impression. Although the replacement features of canopies vary
from one manufacturer to another, many feature special Velcro
straps so the canopy can be installed onto the existing gazebo
frame easily. In addition to single tiered canopy replacement,
you will also discover multi-tiered canopies, as well as various
colors and shapes.

To give you an idea of what you will find on the market, a
beautifully designed replacement canopy for your canopy, let us
say a standard 10x10-foot size and made from durable polyester
vinyl would cost just under $100. However, if you keep your
eyes open, chances are you can find a number of sales or
discounted prices. Included with this replacement canopy design
is a ventilated top construction, which is made to fit easily
over the gazebo frame.

Another recommendation we would make is to choose a replacement
canopy for your gazebo with reinforced corners. This way, you
know you have a tight, secure fit. Most important when choosing
a new canopy is paying attention to the size. Unfortunately,
differences in gazebo designs to include roof pitch, beam
lengths, and so on can make a huge difference in the way in
which a universal canopy fits. Therefore, you might consult
with your local gazebo or home improvement company to make sure
you get the right size for your particular gazebo.

Kitchen Wall Design - Tips And Notes

The kitchen wall design could always be decorated in such a way that it exudes a feeling of coziness, warmth, homey, and inviting mood. The space offered by the kitchen area is also a big deal that you have to take note of. For you to carry on with the spacing scheme of your kitchen, try looking at these tips and notes.

Try hanging the pans and pots there on the kitchen wall. This is most appreciatively done if your pots and pans come in pairs or sets. You need to simply place hooks there on the walls and then hang those handles with the bottoms of the utensils facing downwards. This is also one good way of organizing and saving some space there on the kitchen area. The best place to hang them is above the cooking stoves.

Put the hotpads and the potholders on the wall too. If you prefer not to put on display your pots and pans, then just have your hotpads and potholders hanging. They may act as good ornaments for the kitchen too provided that they are clean.

Place the trivets on the kitchen wall. Antique trivets would look good on the kitchen walls. Match the colors and patterns of those so that they create a good sight.

Other utensils that you may hang on the kitchen walls are the can openers, coffee mugs, measuring spoons, measuring cups, and a lot others. Not only do you save space but you keep them within reach as you work your way in the kitchen.

Another way of working on with the kitchen wall design is by having the kitchen wall tiles. There are plenty of kitchen wall tile designs too. You could choose from the vertical or horizontal arrangement of the kitchen wall tiles and have the colors clearly blending onto with the backsplash.

One interesting kitchen backsplash to use is the ceramic kitchen tile placed in between the plain field of tiles with unique styles and colorful patterns. You could employ different colors that would match with each other so that your kitchen wall would look as creative as possible.

Kitchen wall designs are of your own choice. If you wish to be creative, you could always do so. Experiment and enjoy the mood exuded by your kitchen at all times.

The Miracle of Design

DECORATING WITH SYMBOLS

Throughout history faith, religious beliefs and spiritual concepts have been mistrusted. In many groups, religions and sectors around the world people where unable to profess their faith openly and therefore used symbols in statues, artwork and the likes to serve as a visual reminder of their faith.

Symbols can be used today much in the same way. While beliefs are in the most part no longer persecuted, beliefs can be strengthened through intention. Intention of mind and thoughts. So what does this have to do with miracles? In order to allow the beauty of miracles to surround us we must ensure we keep an open heart, mind and spirit. We must allow ourselves to accept that we are worthy of those miracles and they are within our reach every minute of every day. Symbols can be used to strengthen your resolve and your faith. Symbols can remind you of how blessed you already are and of how deserving you are to be surrounded by miracles.

In Feng Shui symbols are used to strengthen intention and positive energies in areas that have been identified as important sectors for personal growth and the balancing of the energetic rhythms that surround your home.

So where and what type of symbols will help you live in a miraculous state? The answer is different for each and every one of us. Some of us love the beauty and consistency of ancient religious symbols:

The Cross in Christianity, The Menorah in Judaism, The Dharma Wheel in Buddhism, The OM in Hinduism, The Palm in Jainism, The Khanda in Sikh, or the Nine Pointed Star in Baha"i.

For some symbols of angels, fairies and sparkle dust or fat happy Buddha conjures up the miraculous, while for others portraits of their families are the only reminder they need of the miracles in their lives.

Whatever the symbol, place them around your home or office so that each time you look at them they bring joy, bathe you in light and happiness and strengthen your intention to believe in the miraculous that surrounds you!

The Principles of Feng Shui

Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of telling your destiny. The five elements of Feng Shui are Wood, Fire, Water, Earth and Metal. The elements are presided over by either the productive or destructive cycle. When the elements are productive, Water produces Wood which in turn produces Fire and the cycle carries on to generate Earth and then Metal, follow by Water and it replicates itself all over again.

When the elements are destructive, Wood will break up Earth, which goes on to soak up Water, douse Fire and goes on to dissolve Metal. The destructive cycle is the process of decay but it can be rejuvenated to make room for growth.

In addition to, you have the eight directions and how the elements are represented by various colors.

The color scheme of the five elements is as follow:

Wood = Green

Fire = Red

Water = Black or blue

Earth = Brown or Yellow

Metal = White, Gold, or Silver.

The significance of Feng Shui is harmony, which is to achieve Yin and Yang balance. Ying and Yang denote the negative and positive energy that exist in our atmosphere. The principles of Feng Shui can be applicable to the planning of our home, the workplace and every aspects of our life including your internet business.

Fundamentally, you will need the expertise of the Feng Shui practitioner to assist you to achieve harmony with the environment. Feng Shui has been known to perk up your health, love life or finances and if apply rightly, can lead to good health, flourishing love life and excellent financial health. To achieve the desired harmony, the elements and colors must match as in the practice of Feng Shui, it is essential that harmony and balance remain so as to enable the chi to be positive. The dominance of one element or color over another will lead to adversity.

Water corresponds to prosperity and wealth so it is crucial to enhance it in the region of your workplace or home. The Wood element represents all living plants and trees, so wealth and prosperity will thrive in the home if they are found ideally placed. On the other hand, the Earth energy is warm and comforting by inducing closeness and togetherness. In the case of Yang element, it is symbolizes by Metal.

Incorporating the principles of Feng Shui can lead to harmonious relationship with nature, people around you and other features of your life. Feng Shui is essentially a principle to accomplish balance and harmony with our surroundings.

Is Jesus the Only Way to Heaven? - The Good People Get to Go to Heaven Also

I found a website that was recommended to me and it had the comment, is Jesus the only way to heaven at, Gotquestions, seems like your typical Christian website that replies with biblical quotes and simple to follow information. If I was lost, they will help me find a way. There's even a button at the bottom that states, I have accepted Christ today. I guess if I was to push that button, I get to go to heaven and be with Jesus. Hard to imagine, avoiding a life of burning in hell could be as simple as pushing a button and uttering a few simple words.

I found this question and began reading their comment. The first comment is from somebody answering as a nonbeliever in Christianity. It states something like, if I'm basically a good person and live a moral life, I get to go to heaven, right, only the bad people like murderers go to hell.

Now the answer that the website gives, seems to create fear if you do not belong to Christianity and provide you with hope if you join the group.

It mentioned Satan as the ruler of the world, and he can plant these thoughts into your head if you're not a Christian. He also controls your mind and let's you believe, that it would only make sense to any rational person, they get to go to heaven if they're good.

Now this is what makes sense to me but according to this information, I am doomed to rot in hell for eternity, even if I am a pretty good person. All I have to do is accept Christ as God and I get to go to heaven. That seems pretty easy and I wonder why more people don't do it. Just push the button.

I wonder if Satan is controlling, non-Christians minds and that's why there's brutality and war throughout the world. If everyone was a Christian, would our world be better.

Here's a quote from Wikipedia The Crusades were a series of religion-driven military campaigns waged by much of Christian Europe against external and internal opponents. Crusades were fought mainly against Muslims, though campaigns were also directed against pagan Slavs, Jews, Russian and Greek Orthodox Christians, Mongols, Cathars, Hussites, Waldensians, Old Prussians, and political enemies of the popes.

These Christian Crusades killed thousands of people. To give you an idea how many people were killed, all I had to do was type the word crusades into a search engine and it took me to the Christian Crusades.

I guess that rules that out, it seems like the Christians a long time ago were pretty aggressive towards their enemies, I wonder if most Christians would refer to these people as enemies today or are they just being controlled by Satan. Do these Christians from the Crusades get to go to heaven? If people like this get to go to heaven, may be hell is a better place anyway.

Spirituality and The Bottom Line

Whadda ya know?

Seriously. With absolute certainty, what do you know?
Put aside all opinions, beliefs and theories for a moment and address this one straight question: What do you know for sure? Or, as Thoreau put it:

"Let us settle ourselves, and work and wedge our feet downward through the mud and slush of opinion, and prejudice, and tradition, and delusion, and appearance, that alluvion which covers the globe... through church and state, through poetry and philosophy and religion, till we come to a hard bottom and rocks in place, which we can call reality, and say, This is, and no mistake; and then begin..."

In other words, let's cut the crap and figure out what's real. The cogito does exactly that, and it's very simple. The question is: What do you know?

The answer is: I Am.

All other so-called facts are really non-facts and belong in the category of consensual reality and relative truth, i.e., unreal reality and untrue truth.

::: Cogito Ergo Sum

Cogito ergo sum is the equation that proves the fact. But first, before we go on, let's ask what else we know. What else can be said for certain?

Nothing. We don't know anything else. And that's the real point of the cogito. The importance of I Am isn't that it's a fact, but that it's the only fact.

I Am is the only thing anyone has ever known or will ever know. Everything else, all religion and philosophy, is nothing more than dream interpretation. There is no other fact than I Am. The cogito is the seed of the thought that destroys the universe. Beyond the cogito, nothing is known. Beyond the cogito, nothing can be known. Except I Am, no one knows anything. No man or god can claim to know more. No God or array of gods can exist or be imagined that know more than this one thing: I Am.

We can't avoid letting this topic drift briefly into the Christian realm. When Moses asked God His name, God answered, "I am that I am." The name God gives for Himself is I Am.

Note that I Am is unconjugatable. It allows of no variation. God doesn't say, "My name is I Am, but you can call me You Are, or He Is." The cogito, the I Am equation, does not extend beyond one's own subjective knowing. I can say I Am and know it as truth, but I can't say you are, he is, she is, we are, they are, it is, etc. I know I exist and nothing else. Understood thusly, I Am, aka God, truly is the Alpha and the Omega; the entirety of being, of knowledge, of you.

::: The Line Is Drawn

The cogito is the line between fantasy and reality. On one side of the cogito is a universe of beliefs and ideas and theories. To cross the line is to leave all that behind. No theory, concept, belief, opinion or debate can have any possible basis in reality once the ramifications of the cogito have fully saturated the mind. No dialogue can take place across that line because nothing that makes sense on either side makes sense on the other.

We all think we know what the cogito means; this is an invitation to challenge that assumption. If professors of philosophy truly understood it, they wouldn't be professors of philosophy. Alfred North Whitehead said that all philosophy is a footnote to Plato, but all philosophy, Plato included, is rendered obsolete and irrelevant by Descartes. Nothing but the subjective I Am is true, so what's the point of prattling on?

The cogito isn't a mere thought or an idea, it is an ego-eating virus that, properly incubated and nurtured, will eventually devour all illusion. Once we know the cogito, we can begin systematically unknowing everything we thought we knew, and unraveling the self we aren't.

::: Life is but a Dream

There is no such thing as objective reality. Two cannot be proven. Nothing can be shown to exist. Time and space, love and hate, good and evil, cause and effect, are all just ideas. Anyone who says they know anything is really saying they don't know the only thing. The greatest religious and philosophical thoughts and ideas in the history of man contain no more truth than the bleating of sheep. The greatest books are no more authoritative than the greatest luncheon meats.

No one knows anything.

::: Disprove it for Yourself

Anyone wishing to deny these statements about the meaning of the cogito need merely prove that something, anything, is true. By all means, give it a try, dash your head upon it, but it can't be done. Cogito ergo sum, however, isn't the endpoint of inquiry, it's the starting point; it's a tool that helps us see, without intermediaries, exactly what is true and what isn't.

How great is that?

Prayer In My Earlier Life and Its Effects

Programming Yourself For Success

Christmas - The Birth of the Christ Consciousness Within

The Christ is not just one person. The Christ is an "office" or "position" we ALL attain to. The word Christ means, "the anointed one." Jesus came to show us the way to be a vessel for the Love of God to manifest.

When the Christ Spirit entered Jesus he had perfected His soul in many lifetimes to be a worthy temple for Love incarnate. Edgar Cayce said that Jesus was Adam. In the "fall" was the promise of full redemption.

The Christ Consciousness is part of the Trinity, known by different names in many religions. The Father is the Will and Power of God, the Son or Daughter, the Christ, is the Love of God, and Holy Spirit Mother is the Thought, Wisdom, Understanding, Truth, Faith and Wisdom of God Goddess.

Where did the concept of the Christ come to mean just one person? Was it a matter of control?

The Christ of our time was Jesus. In every age the Christ Spirit enters an advanced soul to bring higher learning to the people of that time. Moses, Abraham, Buddha, Krishna, and Mohammed, have all come to teach their people a more advanced connection to the Great Spirit. There is always a great teacher who comes to show us the way and the great possibilities of us as Human/Divine beings.

The biggest secret is that God is within each one of us, and also in every atom of space and in every form we see.

This Christmas, let us pray to truly forgive anyone who we may be angry with, including forgiving self. Let the power of Love heal all wounds.

Enjoy Christmas and observe the 12 Holy Days December 26-January 6, as a dedication to the 12 months ahead. Let this devotion bring you ever closer to the possibility of the Christ of Love being born within.

Let this sacred season bring us joy, peace and healing of all conditions. Let the Christ Consciousness of Love be born within each one of us so that we may usher in the 1,000 years of peace!

Laws of Attraction Break the United States Documentary Record!

Laws of Attraction may still be new to some, but the phrase is definitely not new to those who have been practicing the laws or the secret laws.

In the US, the Secret film that popularizes the "Laws of Attraction" was apparently the "third highest grossing documentary of all time". Does it surprise you at all? Can you remember the buzz that the film has created? It is expected that the movie will help changing even more lives!

The Secret movie though does not tell you anything new. It just reveals an ancient concept of the laws. Laws of Attraction say that thoughts become things and your thoughts will come to you when you visualize them. The laws obviously exist and they work both positive and negative ways. When you visualize negative, you receive negative; when you visualize positive, you receive positive.

In order to make sure that attraction principle work for you, you must remember that positive thinking precedes the laws. It is true that positive thinking does work, but when you mix that "positive thinking" with "emotion", your "visualization" becomes even more real than ever. That is why it is important to be able to attract positivity!

Take desire for wealth as an example. You may want to visualize the exact amount of money you want in a specific amount of time and what do you want to do specifically with that amount of money. When you focus on your desire, you are half way through your journey. Remember to actually apply the principle of attraction in your life. You cannot have a result without action. That is a fact. Period.

When you want to attract beautiful things into your life, you must feel how wonderful it feels to live the life you want and live it within your mind throughout the day. If you haven't practiced the attraction principle yet, I suggest you go do them soon.

I also have news for people who do not believe in the power of attraction - is silly for one not to accept the laws since there is no harm in believing and applying them.

Look, before the whole laws of attraction craze came along in the last three or four years, most people had no idea what they are. People just heard of "positive thinking". As we have established that "positive thinking" works, but it is even more effective when we apply the attraction principle. Remember that positive affirmations are simply statements that represent a goal or intention you would like to realize while the Laws of Attraction represent your whole being as you live and breath the Laws!

John Lee is an entrepreneur, who has found successes using the Laws of Attraction Not only he built his business from 5-figure debts to 5-figure passive income, he helps others to do the same. He is also a student of Bob Proctor and learn The Secret directly from Bob. Observer and the Observed

So quantum physics tells us that the observer causes the observed, or at the very least that the observer interferes with that which is being observed by the very process of observing it. Ive heard some people crying "heresy!" They do not like the idea that once the observer is not observing the observed, then the observed is not.

In my mind that misses a large, obvious point which makes the concept ludicrous. We are all one, god if you will, or at the very least energy, unseparated my anything other than atomic configuration which on a larger scale appears to create separation of bodies of mass. Since we know better, then theres a couple other points we cannot overlook.

Firstly, because we are all one energy field, for lack of a better term, there is no disappearance of anything when it is not being observed. Our human notion of not existing encapsulates anything not within the small frequency band our six physical senses can pick up. Perhaps the observer causes the observed to become a manifest, physical experience (to the observer), but the lack of observer in no way takes away the existence of that experience/being/energy.

Secondly, because all energy is the same, and we as apparently individual human beings are conscious, then its very difficult to imagine that any spec of the energy field of all-that-is could not be conscious. The type of consciousness may vary greatly, in an infinite number of ways, but is still basic consciousness nonetheless. For us to be conscious implies that everything is, that energy itself is consciousness. That ours is focused into a small amount of matter at the moment (exclusively, as far as what we deem our conscious mind is concerned) does not mean that every other piece of this energy shares that form of focalised consciousness.

If our rule of free will stands up, as it must, in that the law of attraction clearly states that we create our reality by what we think about, thereby allowing that to become part of our reality, then all forms of consciousness must inherit this same trait, although perhaps experentially very different. Therefore the observer cannot observe the observed unless the observed is also an observer that is observing the original observer.

With this understood, all observers are in fact by nature observed, as that which they are observing is also by nature observer. The process of observation therefore does not contain observed and observer, but both of those in both participants, or what I will now call observed(er).

I dont mean to shake rocky ground, but this places all new challenges on the understanding of the role of observer in the observed.

And having raised an issue without providing satisfactory resolution, I leave you now.

Yoga And To Force Or to Feel

Most of us who do yoga yearn for more from the practice than just physical benefits--indeed, for more than just benefit to ourselves. But how can twisting our bodies, opening our hips, and straightening our legs make a difference in the wider world? How can lifting our chests help lift up this troubled planet?

Our asana practice can have a positive impact because it constantly asks us to become more sensitive, more conscious, more aware of ourselves--not just our bodies but also our minds, feelings, emotions, and our very nature. The real value of asana practice is that it can teach us to tune in and truly feel. As our sensitivity increases, life becomes more rich and enjoyable because we can taste the unique flavor of each individual moment. More important, we also become more aware of what moves us toward out dharma and what takes us away from it. This awareness makes us clearer and more peaceful, more able to elegantly handle life's endless dilemmas without feeling overwhelmed or fearful. As a result, we become more effective in all of our actions, and our presence begins to inspire and bring out the best in people around us.

The opposite of feeling is forcing. When we force, we cannot feel, and when we feel, we cannot force. The moment we start to force, we begin to lose awareness of the effect our efforts have on our nervous system, on the situation itself, and on the other people involved. Forcing makes us angry, inflexible, and intolerant; raises our blood pressure; and can eventually create heart problems. Feeling, on the other hand, makes us calmer, more receptive, more understanding, and healthier.

If we force ourselves into Ardha Matsyendrasana II (Half Lord of the Fishes Pose II), the spine will twist where it always has, where it needs the twist the least. In this pose, it is particularly easy to force the body while attempting to reach around the back and grab the shin. To the extent that the desire to do this comes from the ego's urge to satisfy itself--just to prove we can do this pose--it manifests itself as force. Feeling, on the other hand, allows us to tune in to the habitual tendencies of the body and sense which vertebrae are twisting and which are not. Cultivating feeling in Ardha Matsyendrasana II allows movement where there was stagnation, release where there was stiffness, and freedom where there was bondage.

Just as force and feeling are opposites, so are violence and awareness. We often get angry, and sometimes even outwardly violent, when a situation arises that is not to our ego's liking, rather than using it as an opportunity to become more aware. But violence inevitably breeds more violence. The more forceful and violent we are, the further we move from feeling and awareness; consequently, the more violent we become.

I believe much of the violence in our world comes from our lack of awareness, which has historically manifested itself as an unwillingness to see other people's point of view. When we pause and feel, we become more open and more receptive to the possibility that there are valid ways of thinking other than our own.

Sensitivity is often portrayed as weakness, yet it actually gives us the strength to lower our guard and say to an enemy, "Let's sit down and talk this through. How are you feeling? Why are you behaving the way you are?" People who have the security that comes with deep sensitivity and awareness have no desire to be violent; it is insecurity that contributes to violence. Through feeling, sensitivity, and awareness, we can bring insecurity and its resulting violence to an end.

What does all of this have to do with our individual practice of asanas like Ardha Matsyendrasana II? The awareness that we develop on the yoga mat, though seemingly small, affects all that is. As we become more aware in our yoga practice and in our lives, as we move away from force and violence and toward sensitivity, feeling and awareness, we change our individual consciousness and actions. In turn, these changes influence the consciousness and actions of everyone we meet. Slowly we shift the direction the world is taking. As we practice each asana, whether it be a challenging twist like Ardha Matsyendrasana II or a simple standing pose, we have the opportunity to become the embodiment of peace and to make our practice a prayer for harmony in the world.

Renewable Energy - Lesson 1 - Introduction to Renewable Energy

With just a little bit of research, one can quickly determine that there is a strong and growing groundswell of interest in renewable energy. Leaving politics out of it, many people are simply interested in making their homes more energy efficient and thereby saving money on heating and cooling bills.

Renewable energy generally includes solar power, wind power, and biofuels. For all categories, there are ways to integrate them into your daily life and into your home to make yourself more energy efficient. These changes will certainly save you money over the long run--and in some case in the short term---but they will also help reduce the massive strain that is being placed on the planet in general.

There are a large number of companies, both large and small, that advertise their specific product or service that fits into the renewable energy industry. There are a great number of businesses that manufacture, install and repair all types of solar panels. Likewise, there are a corresponding number of businesses that sell, service and install systems designed to capture wind power. Still more companies are out there manufacturing and selling various forms of biofuels. Biofuels include bio diesel and ethanol. There are also a very few companies engaged in research and development of hydrogen furnaces which run on biomass, often barnyard waste. While all these companies are in business to make money, the combined effect of what they are selling and producing is a positive one for the environment. Renewable energy is an undeniable fact of life for us now, and we all have a form of social responsibility to do our part to advance it into the mainstream. Regardless if the motivation is purely financial---to either make or save money---the end result is the same; a reduction in the emissions and pollution produced by traditional fossil fuels, and a cleaner, more sustainable environment and economy.

Trends toward renewable energy are taking hold on a more widespread basis every day. One will hear more frequent mention of terms like "green construction" or "green companies". These terms refer to building houses in an environmentally friendly manner, making as much use of renewable energy technology as possible and to businesses that have adopted an organized and serious policy to reducing their environmental impact through use of renewable energy.

Renewable energy has become such a popular subject, that it is seen as a constant theme in contemporary media, including major movies, TV programs and in music. The growing awareness and concern with environmental issues is fueling the fundamental shift toward being more environmentally conscious and toward using renewable energy whenever possible. There is still much pollution and waste in the world today, but there has never been such a high and growing level of awareness and motivation to change our fundamental lifestyles in order to save and cure our climate. Renewable energy is a fundamental piece of the puzzle for not only a healthy planet, but a healthy life as well.

Religious Fundamentalism Can Create Problems

Religious groups can easily justify their actions by using religious text to benefit and promote their beliefs. The Muslims can sling quotes out of the Quran to justify their treatment towards women as second-class or even third class citizens in society, often removing certain rights from them because they weren't born men.

Shouldn't these women be treated equally. This is where religious fundamentalism evolves into religious fanaticism.

Christians can often use the same tactics to justify their beliefs and Christianity. This list goes on and on and has created hardships in the past on some people in our civilizations and will continue to do so in the future. As long as people continue to turn a blind eye to evil religious and government leaders, atrocities will take place and some of them will even be supported by those who eventually will become accused are victims of their own wrongdoings.

Does anyone remember the Ku Klux Klan? If you live in the south eastern part of the United States, there is a very good chance that you have heard of them or even know someone who belongs to this organization. The Ku Klux Klan was responsible for hanging African Americans throughout the early 1900s to prove that the white race was superior to the race of black people. Their religious beliefs fueled them with righteousness.

If this going on anywhere in the world today, may be issues about abortion or gay marriage. It seems like an oxymoron, if we allow gay people to get married, we won't have to worry about the abortion issue.

Some Christians, but most Americans look at this as a shameful part of our American heritage. It's not something that most Americans would ever support today. I would like to point something out about the Ku Klux Klan, they started out as a Christian organization and made examples out of other white people who weren't conforming to their ideal Christian society.

There are stories of people that abused their wives and the Ku Klux Klan set them straight, one way or another. If it required beating the crap out of them or killing them, something needed to be done and they are morally obligated to perform the task as Christians. These people took their Christian beliefs to an extreme.

When are we as a country and the world going to start fighting religious fundamentalism at its core and stop the atrocities that are going on today, using religion to justify their wrongdoings.

Solar Lighting For the Garden Saves Energy and Gives a Warm Glow

The sun powers your outdoor lighting? Yes, this is not only economical, it is also ecologically smart. Solar lights use the sunlight to charge batteries which power the solar lights. Solar lights may be set to automatically go on at night and can stay alight for up to 9 hours or more.

Solar Lighting Shines a Romantic Glow

Solar outdoor lights are excellent for the garden yard, deck or entry path, giving a romantic soft garden glow. Garden lighting effectively adds a warm touch of home, even before entering the house. Individual accent lights showcase interesting elements in the yard. Spotlights can make a plain tree look spectacular at night, which may just increase your property value as well.

Solar Lighting in the Garden. The Practical Option

The solar receptor panels generally last about 20 years with proper care. Solar garden lighting helps illuminate dark paths, or highlight certain landscape elements. There are solar lights that can be installed onto the house or poles, so that it is not so easy for thieves or vandals to walk away with the fixtures.

Solar Garden Lighting Scares away common Burglars

Solar lighting helps to scare away thieves, by giving the feeling of someone is at home here. In fact, there may be solar lights that can be set to turn on and off at certain times in the evening, just like you may now be using light timers inside the house to give the impression that someone is at home turning the lights off and on at certain hours in the evening. Movement detectors on solar lights are extremely good in preventing unwanted guests, and just as effective at welcoming an expected friend. Do you remember the feeling you felt as you approached the front door of a house of a friend, as the front poor light went on as you approached the stoop? You may have had an alarmed feeling, like Clifinar did, or felt happy that the area became lighted, aiding you in finding the steps, avoiding cracks in the walk, or the garden hose hat may have accidentally been left lying across the entry path!

Solar Lighting and Caring for your Garden

During the Fall and Spring, when you are arriving home in the early evening, many times it is just getting dark, or is already dark. With the energy-saving solar lighting you have installed, you can comfortably see your garden and be able to water the garden. Evening hours is a perfect time to water, as evaporation is not a problem, as it is in the hotter daytime hours.

Outdoor solar lighting creates a welcoming ambiance of warmth and safety. That could be why Mom always left the light on for you.

Provide Your Home Energy Using Your Own Solar Panels!

It's amazing how many people are starting to turn to solar and wind power energy, while it's also amazing how many people are not doing it as well! The number of people using this type of energy is every increasing, but there are people out there who do not buy into the philosophy that solar powered energy can actually help them.

So what's the truth, can solar panels actually save small amounts of cash on your power bill? No, that's completely false, they can save a gripload of cash if used correctly. Our sun is providing energy to use each and every day, so why do we resort to electric companies to power our houses, when they should be depending on us!

The way solar panels work is that it captures the suns energy and turns the energy into heat and energy, remember - energy can never be destroyed, so we might as well use it. The solar panels require little to no maintenance as well, so if the power company decided to up and leave, you'd probably would not even notice until someone told you.

Not only does it help you financially, but you'll be doing your part in helping the environment - especially if you spread the word on how effective solar panels are. Not only can you use solar panels, but you can also decide to use wind generators just in case you do not get that much sun in your area.

The drawback on solar panels is that it's expensive to buy new ones and get them installed; this is why more people around the world are using them, and building themselves - even building solar powered cars, solar powered home objects, the possibilities are absolutely endless!

Save Hundreds of $$$ on Every Single Power Bill! Build Your Own Home-Made Wind Generator or Solar Powered Panels following a simple step-by-step guide with everyday materials and save hundreds of dollars on monthly power bills and help the environment. Energy Cost Savings by Replacing Windows

Energy cost savings by replacing windows is one of the most effective ways to have an energy efficient home. Let me show you a few facts about this subject matter including examples of the best energy efficient replacement windows available today. Just read the article right to the end.

Government "energy" officials say you can lose up to about 25% of your heat through windows. You just need to find a proper glazing, which has the ability to cut those government figures by half. Did you know that with the right energy efficient windows installed you can save up to 50% on heating bills?

If you know the right contractor you can renovate a house with single pane wooden windows and keep the same look, keep the frames and insert energy efficient panels. I once had replacement insert double hung windows installed. The contractor added a new frame and sash inside the existing frame. But if you want to just replace the sashes you can get double pane insulated windows.

Energy cost saving by replacing windows requires you to know the right brands that will deliver what you are looking for. Companies like Hurd, Milagard, Pella and Anderson make some of the best energy efficient windows around. However, do not be fooled by the popularity of these brands. There are many others to consider.

The best way to ensure that you are buying an energy efficient window is to ensure that it has a good energy efficiency rating. You probably won't find any wood replacement windows with a good rating but especially those that meet the proposed energy efficiency standards for the year 2015. The best option is vinyl energy efficient windows.

If you want the best energy cost saving by replacing windows advice then find a helpful expert at:

http://www.findreplacementwindowcompanies.com

Have one of them come over to your house to provide an obligation free consultation. They will look at your house and make the best recommendations based on what they see. I personally prefer this route as compared to heading to a DIY store and fooling myself to think I know what I am looking for.

Unplug Small Appliances - Save Money and Energy

We were toasting bagels one morning when my sister was in town. As we all sat around the table to enjoy our breakfast, she mentioned to me that I should unplug my toaster oven since we weren't using it anymore. My response was, "I turned it off, it's OK."

No, it isn't OK. What I didn't understand then that I know now is that small appliances and electronics still draw electricity when they're plugged in - even if the power button is turned off. Common sense says if these items are drawing power when we're not using them, why keep them plugged in?

Exactly.

The biggest energy-drainers even when they are turned off are microwave ovens, televisions, DVD players, computers, game systems, and cable and satellite TV boxes. A good solution for these items is to plug several devices into a power strip that has an on/off switch. When you flick the switch off, the power strip no longer draws electricity from the outlet.

There are many reasons to keep your appliances and electronics unplugged when you're not using them. First and foremost, it is the responsible thing to do for the environment. Just think how good it will feel as you're unplugging your cell phone charger that you're doing something good for the environment today! It's a very simple and easy thing that EVERYONE can do. Imagine if everyone in your city decided to do this one small thing how much energy we could save? How about your state? The world?

Another main reason is the reduction in your electric bill. When my sister told me that she was saving $15 - $20 each month by unplugging her microwave, cell phone charger, and her TV my first thought was "yeah right - it can't be that much". Others might say that's not enough of a savings to even bother with. Oh really? Twenty dollars per month is $240 per year in savings. I can think of plenty of things I'd rather do with $240 than give it to the electric company for something I didn't use anyway.

The truth is that if you have 10 items in your home that are plugged in and not in use, you could be wasting as much as 450,000 watts (or 4,500 kilowatts) of electricity per year! Depending on your usage and local electricity rates, that could cost you anywhere between $200 and $600 each year! Also, most utility companies charge a higher rate when you use more than a certain amount of energy, and they also charge more during summer months when electric use is higher, so that becomes an even bigger savings when you keep your electronics unplugged.

So now I understand what my sister was talking about when she told me to unplug my toaster oven. Everything stays unplugged in my house now unless it's being used. I am happy to say that my electric bill has been reduced by a little more than $20 each month, but even prouder to say that I am doing something good for the environment today.

Save Energy and Money by Closing Unused Rooms

Energy costs are skyrocketing, and people are searching for ways to stretch their budgets to cover heating and electricity in these winter months. Besides turning down the thermostat and increasing insulation, reducing the amount of heat or energy you use by closing up unused or unnecessary rooms can save you a lot of money on your monthly bills.

Close Up Unused Rooms - Registers

All registers in an unused room should be closed and covered to reduce energy costs and reduce waste. Be sure to do the same thing to air vents or registers that both push air into the room and take it out. Baseboard heaters can also be turned off and covered, though this is a bit more difficult. All registers in an unused room should be closed and covered to reduce energy costs and reduce waste To safely cover registers and air vents, first be sure to close them completely. There are commercial register covers that can be used. Some are more complex things you screw into the wall, but there are also magnetic sheets that can be attached directly to the metal fixture.

Close Up Unused Rooms - Windows and Doors

All windows and doors in the unused room should be closed and sealed against any drafts or leaks. Use storm windows on every window in the room. Make sure weather-stripping is in place and has no breaks or gaps.

You can purchase plastic sheeting, Styrofoam, or even use old blankets or heavy drapes to further insulate the windows. Attach these with a heavy-duty staple gun or other secure fastening to all edges of the windows or doors inside. This will reduce leaks and lower the energy requirements of the house.

Close up Unused Rooms - Electricity

There is no need to use electricity at all in an unused room in your house. Not only should you obviously turn off all appliances, light fixtures, and other electronic equipment, you should unplug it as well. If your house has multiple circuits or fuses, you can even disable the electricity to the unused rooms. This will prevent any electricity 'leak' that will result in very small losses that will show up on your bill. Anything you can do to reduce energy consumption is good for both the environment and your wallet.

Closing up unused rooms is an excellent way to save money and energy on your home heating costs this winter. Always be mindful of how to reduce consumption, and then take steps to further insulate or isolate those areas of the house that are not in use.

EdenPure Infrared Heater Review

With the cost of my electricity and oil bills on the rise, I decided it was time to look into a possible energy saving solution to heat my home. After some in-depth research, I decided upon purchasing an Infrared Heater. I was intrigued by all of the great characteristics of Infrared Heaters, such as their high efficiency and even consistent heat distribution The Infrared Heater I decided to purchase was the EdenPure Infrared Heater , and I could not be happier with my purchase. I chose the EdenPure because of their highly positive reputation and wide range of available options.

The EdenPure works great in terms of even heat distribution. Its heats the surrounding area from wall to wall, and also floor to ceiling. In my home, I place it in my central living room and it heats up the entire surrounding area in no time, when set on a high heat distribution setting. The type of heat the unit provides is very comfortable, because the EdenPure's patented heating element does not burn any Oxygen in the air. It is comparable to the feeling of a warm blanket. Another great advantage of the EdenPure is that I can use it for highly efficient "spot heating" in my home. Setting the unit to a lower heat setting and pointing it directly into the room I would like to heat is a great way to keep warm and save on the cost of electricity. The EdenPure sits on sturdy roller wheels which make it a breeze to move around my home.

Another great attribute of the EdenPure is the safety and piece of mind I get by having it heat my home. I have always been worried about using the standard electric coil heaters in my house in fears of instantiating a fire, but there is no need to worry about this when using the EdenPure. The EdenPure will only ever be warm to the touch, even when it is operating on full power. What this means is that children can never be burned by it, and your pets will actually be drawn to the warm soothing heat that it emits. My wife watches children in the house full time, and she loves the fact that she doesn't need to worry about them being burned by the heater.

In conclusion, the EdenPure Infrared Heater has been a great addition to my home. It provides even heat distribution in my home, and it has actually helped me to save money on my electricity bills as it advertises. The EdenPure is definitely worth the investment, and you'll practically pay for it with the money you'll be saving on your heating bills. If you are thinking about purchasing one for your home, stop shivering, and order one today!

Credit Crunch 2008 and the Great Depression

The world economy is in a strange place due to the credit crunch. People across many nations have felt its effects, and are struggling to find ways to deal with it. The economy hasn't been in a similar place since just before The Great Depression, and several things are contributing to the overall crisis. Banks filing bankruptcy, large corporations failing to stay afloat and having their executives bailed out by governments around the world, as well as rampant home foreclosures have all sent the economy in a downward spiral. Amidst all these foreboding events, it seems difficult to find anything to be happy about. What if there were ways to take advantage of the credit crunch? If so, how could you do it? In this article, I'll give a brief explanation of how you can turn this economic crisis around.

The first important thing you can do is stay positive. Instead of stressing over how terrible the crisis is, try and find little ways to save money. Energy-saving technology is becoming more and more readily available to the public, and is one of the great ways you can spend less to save more. While the gas price seems to have stabilised, it's still pretty expensive across most countries. Riding a bike, walking, or using mass transit (buses and subways) can really help reduce your transportation spending. Reducing heating and air conditioning in your home can keep your energy usage down. By doing these simple things, you can really reduce the impact of the credit crunch on you and your family.

If you've recently mortgaged your house and are trying to avoid defaulting, look up tips online. There are a number of agreements and deals you can make with the lender in order to keep from defaulting, and lending companies and banks are more willing than ever to help people make mortgage payments. The credit crunch doesn't have to cost you your home - but it's up to you to take the initiative and pull yourself out.

The credit crunch is certainly costly for all , but by following some simple money-saving ideas, you can greatly reduce its impact on you and those who are close to you. Be sure to stay on the lookout for any wiggle room, and stay positive! There are plenty of ways you can keep yourself out of economic trouble. You just have to stay alert, keep your chin up; your eyes open and wear that credit crunch smile!

A Complete Buying Guide For Ceiling Fans

Have you ever wondered why, despite the existence of energy-saving air conditioning units and other cooling appliances, ceiling fans still exist? It's been more than a century since these twirling propellers from above were invented - they first appeared in American homes way back in the 1860's.

Why it Pays to Buy Ceiling Fans

The good thing about ceiling fans is that they provide the utmost comfort in the home. In the living room, for example, having a fixture makes the air circulating around the area a lot cooler.

They can also help lower your energy bills by decreasing the demand on air conditioning, especially during the heat of summer. Aesthetically, they can provide a unique charm to any room where they are installed.

Tips for Choosing a Quality Product

So what are the things that you need to remember when you go shopping for one of these ceiling decorations? Just as it is when buying any household appliance, choose a brand which will give you the best value for your money.

Take a look at some tips on how you can choose one which is bound to last for a very long time:

- Depending on the size of the room, determine the weight and length of the blades that will generally keep the room cool.

- Be careful when choosing the materials that the blades are made of. If you want the charm of wooden blades, choose one which is made of multi-layered hardwood veneer. Brass should have a protective coating to make it longer lasting.

All in all, ceiling fans are a great addition to any home, so make sure to look for high-quality ones that will last for practically a lifetime.

Homemade Wind Turbine - How to Build Homemade Wind Turbines

Learning how to build a homemade wind turbine became important to our family when we first started looking to buy a wind generator to run our off gird home. The price of 1000w models needed to run our renewable energy system cost nearly $4000 including the tower. We had to even assemble it ourselves. We figured there must be a better way.

Our solar panel array just wasn't big enough to run our home and we figured a large wind turbine would add to our power supply enough to meet the increased demand of 3 children growing up in a mostly normal home.

What did we need?

1000w of power production

40 foot tower

Could we build a homemade wind turbine?

We decided to look at the option of building our own, as we said when we saw the price of new ones. The problem was that no simple plans existed to do just that. All of the wind generator plans we encountered called for complicated layout and even more welding than we cared to pursue. What we needed was a simple set of plans.

None existed so we decided to make our own.

Our homemade wind turbine project took us over 10 years to complete. Trying to find a source of cheap parts that we could put together with relatively simple tools was very difficult. Everyone seems to always want to complicate things in order to keep their share of a very large business sector. The renewable energy field has grown substantially over the past few years and most manufacturers simply didn't want anyone building their own wind generator. I guess we can understand that.

But, not everyone can afford $4000 for the system we needed. We know we couldn't. So we went to work to design a system that could be used by anyone. We even learned how to consistently provide a wind turbine blade design that met the simple tool- easy to learn criteria.

Do you want more information?

Learn how to build a Homemade Wind Turbine. The plans are easy to follow, require simple tools only and no previous experience. It did take us over 10 years to put together our testing and research so that the average person could build their own, but we have still done our best to keep the cost reasonable, under $30.

Our family began living off the grid in 2001 and we have never looked back. Learning how to build a homemade wind turbine is the fastest way to get started living off the grid.

Thanks to the continuous evolving and revolution of style and function, residential lighting can be beautiful and something to admire while still remaining functional and cost effective. You'll easily find many different styles of residential lights to meet your design needs.

Grow lights on the other hand, are not so much about being pleasing to the eye, as they are more geared towards being a functional form of lighting. A grow light is used to promote growth in a plant by emitting the same electromagnetic spectrum that photosynthesis needs to take place. There are many different types of grow lights available, with each giving off certain colors, spectrums, temperatures and light waves. Grow lighting is desired by those who are interested in growing plants because they give off the same daytime rays, tones and color temperatures that natural sunlight does. You can pick the right grow light for your growing needs by looking over a color rendering index and choosing the appropriate solution.

Then there is commercial lighting. Commercial lighting blends contemporary style with the need to provide appropriate lighting in a functional manner. You'll find commercial lighting in use in just about any non-residential setting you can think of. These settings include stadiums, stores, outdoor arenas and even the streets and roads that are lined with street lights. Commercial lighting solutions are available based on form, function, energy savings and cost effectiveness. Mix and match commercial lighting options for the desired result and attributes.

All of these types of lighting - residential lights, commercial lights, grow lights - can be used as an application to make living more enjoyable and more functional. Without lighting, we'd have a pretty hard time of it once the sun set.

If you would like to shop for these types of lighting, any hardware store or discount retailer will have their own selection of them. But for the greatest overall selection and best prices, look to the internet as your source.

Many websites, such as http://www.accessdiscounts.us - have a large selection of lighting solutions available.

Renewable Wind Energy - Let Us Learn the Basics

How do you define Wind?

In the simplest of terms, wind is the movement of air. It is created as the warmer air rises in the atmosphere. Some locations are prone to more wind than others due to the climate of it. That is also why some periods of the year can be full of wind while others are more calm and peaceful. Yet that blowing wind really helps for the seeds of trees, plants, and flowers to get where they need to be.

Sometimes it is just a light breeze that can feel good. Other times it is cold and blowing everything around in sight. This is why we sometimes welcome the wind and at other times we may be cursing it. High winds can be extremely dangerous and cause plenty of damage. Many people lose shingles off their roof due to it. Semi trucks may have to get off the roads due to the force of the wind on their vehicles.

The wind can also be used favorably in many ways though. We have found it to be an effective tool. Something as common and fun as flying a kite can't be accomplished without the wind to give it movement and to keep it in the air. For a lovely sound people often place wind chimes outside of their home. This presents a melody as the wind blows though them.

There are special tools that can be used to measure the speed of wind. Generally these are used by experts in the weather field. Many of them are readers for radar that are in place. This allows for the wind in various spots to be reviewed and recorded several times per day. This information can help people to know how to dress and to protect themselves from the wind. Small children can be susceptible to painful ear infections due to exposure to large gusts of wind.

Renewable wind energy has also become a very economical resource to use for electricity. There will always be an endless supply of wind power that can be collected. Since the very early days people have been doing so with the use of windmills. Today many of them have been replaced with high powered turbines that can collect more of the energy from the wind.

Renewable Energies - Why Wind & Solar Power is Great

Renewable energies are diverse in nature and they have the capacity to replace the fossil fuels, which have detrimental effects on the environment. Since there is no toxic waste in producing power using green power technologies the emission of green house gases can be brought under control to a large extent. There also been a growing demand for renewable energy resources in the recent past by industries and domestic users, because of the increasing awareness of the green house effects.

Several industries do not mind the initial costs of setting up green power plants and they also get green power certificates, which are valuable in the consumer industry. You may wonder, what are the different kinds of such energies? Well just to name a few - Hydro electricity, wind power, ocean power bio fuels and bio mass are all different forms of renewable energy sources.

As of now hydro electricity is able to reach several domestic users and many companies have set up hydro electricity units. The wind energy and solar energy are also popular and it is possible for people to have these forms of energy suppliers installed in their own homes. As of now solar energy and wind energy cannot meet 100% of the usage demands for the basic consumer, but they can save about 40% or even more of the regular power consumption for a domestic user.

Most people find this good enough, because they are directly saving 40% of the power costs. Renewable energies are ideal for the environment and the Earth, because they take power from natural sources that are readily available and as there are no raw materials used to create power there is no waste. This is the single biggest factor that is riving the whole world towards green power as it involves only investment costs and nothing else.

If you would ask me, which is the best renewable energy to use, then I would probably say wind and solar power. The other types are not well developed for public use, and there isn't enough instructions for them. However, if you want to get free electricity using wind energy or Sun's power, then you should definitely learn how to build a windmill and solar power. Click here to find out more.

Stop - The Energy Waste is Destroying Our Planet

How to Save Fuel and Money

With the ever increasing cost of fuel, it surely makes sense to look for alternatives now.

Everywhere you look costs are rising. Gas, Electricity and don't mention Oil the price of which is up and down but the trend is inevitably upwards.

So what can the ordinary person do about it?

Well of course a many of the issues are out of our control but there are steps we can take to minimize the effects, both environmentally and monetarily.

Five steps to reducing consumption. These may seem obvious but are we implementing them?

1/ In the home, have you increased the insulation in the roof space (this is the main area of heat loss in the home)

2/ Have you installed "Cavity wall insulation"? In the UK grants are available and for the disabled installation is free.

3/ Sealing draughts around doors and windows is a very inexpensive but effective way of reducing heat loss.

4/ Transport...... This is the bone of contention with many environmentalists and of course where you live and your lifestyle impacts on your transport choices.

However we can all help to reduce carbon emissions very easily. Do you still take the car for short journeys? Walking may seem a chore but once you get into the habit of walking it is surprisingly good. The health benefits alone make it worthwhile and you are saving fuel, money and the environment.

5/ If the public transport where you live is of a good standard why not use it? it is more sociable than the car, you can meet very interesting people.

However, the main benefit is in fuel saved and the impact on the environment. Go on give it a try.

What else can we do?
How about producing your own electricity? "Oh that costs a fortune to install" I hear you say. It's true to say that professional Solar or Wind Energy installations are expensive and probably the savings for most people don't warrant the expenditure. However there are some superb DIY guides now available which take you step-by-step through building your own windmill and solar panels very cheaply. Two of the guides available show how to do this for less than $200 including all the materials.

How much could you save by building your own power supply? Well how much are your electricity bills? It is claimed you can produce more than your own requirements and sell power back to the utility company. How cool is that?

We all need to be more conscious of the amount of energy we are wasting if not for the money to be saved then for the future of our planet and future generations.
